Starring Eric Elmosnino in the title role as the chain-smoking Jewish iconoclast who flouts authority at every turn, the film traces his life from his childhood in 1940s Nazi-occupied Paris to his rise to success in the 1960s and relationships with French icons Juliette Greco (Anna Mouglalis), Brigitte Bardot (Laetitia Casta), France Gall (Sara Forestier) and Jane Birkin (Lucy Gordon).
