Post-Jazz, Post-Punk and Chamber Dub sextet SOLUS3, featuring harpist Julia Thornton and members of both Transglobal Underground & Krautrock improvisers Lunar Dunes, present their follow up to "The Sky Above The Roof" and a South Bank collaboration with photographer Jan Dunning. SOLUS3, originally conceived as an improv trio featuring harpist & percussionist Julia Thornton, drummer Hamilton Lee & bassist Ian Blackaby, released their seven track debut album "The Sky Above The Roof" in 2010. Positively received in particular by the World Music and Progressive Rock media, the album featured a setting of a Lorca poem and an arrangement of the eponymous Vaughan Williams song. The band made their live debut in May 2011, since when the core trio has been augmented by vocalist Krupa & trumpeter and throat singer Francesco Filizzola with additional guest vocals and guitar from Jemma Freeman. The core performances that comprise this new release were recorded in just three improvised sessions. Further recordings took place between July and September 2011, during which those original improvisations were developed into the final pieces. The resulting album includes four songs and one instrumental based on those group improvisations and Reich , which was composed by harpist Julia Thornton. The seventh song is SOLUS3 s arrangement of Porn Jam Lunar Dunes lounge classic in-waiting.
