The musical rhythm series Rock Band takes its first foray into the portable realm with Rock Band – Unplugged on the PSP.

Although previous music series’ such as Guitar Hero have made the leap into portable gaming, Rock Band – Unplugged is the first title in the Rock Band series to move to smaller consoles. Unlike Guitar Hero – On Tour, Unplugged forgoes the use of an extra add-on peripheral, instead asking players to use their fingers to bash the PSP’s face buttons. World Tour mode makes its return, where players can customise each member of their band and take them on tour through 24 different venues and cities.

Rock Band’s music store is also included, where players can use the system’s built-in Wi-Fi to access the music store and download new tracks online. Over 40 original master recording have already been included in Unplugged, with tracks from Nirvana, Weezer, The Who, Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam.

Rock Band – Unplugged not only manages to squeeze the Rock Band formula onto a handheld without the use of a peripheral, but also includes a number of unique improvements to help it stand out from other portable rhythm releases.
