Call of Duty tackles a whole new era as Black Ops plunges you into the murky
height of the Cold War and history's most secretive battles. The world's most
popular first person shooter places you in the most dangerous conflict zones of
the late '60s.
From the jungles of Vietnam to the snowy wastes of the Ural mountains, you and
your team must operate behind enemy lines and using only the limited technology
of the time. Luckily this includes air support such as the SR-71 Blackbird
stealth plane, as well as deadly attack helicopters and armoured personnel
carriers.
Like any Call of Duty game the multiplayer will set the standard for all other
console games, with enhanced customisation tools, playable vehicles and a
revamped scoring system.
Features
Retro Warfare: Call of Duty explodes the myths of the Cold War as you
join a team of Black Ops soldiers caught up in the fight against communism in
Vietnam and beyond.
Ammu-Nation: Use new special ammo including an explosive crossbow,
Dragon's Breath flame rounds for your shotgun and a range of other period
weapons.
Twisted Metal: Take the controls of the iconic SR-71 Blackbird as you
direct operations from high above or jump into an attack chopper in Vietnam for
some close-up action.
Online Perks: Create-a-Class 2.0 customisation tool lets you personalise
your online battles even more, with new perks and revamped rules for killstreaks.

Good game, but Activision is playing it safe
Another year, another Call of Duty. Very few gamers resist the Call of Duty franchise so I won't go to any details - I'll just list improvements and things that are different in this CoD installment.
Usually I'm not a big fan of CoD singleplayer but Black Ops surprised me. SP is REALLY good. There are a few twists (although you see the big one coming from a mile away) and the game is really good at changing the pace so you don't get bored playing. I played the whole SP in one sitting. Partly because the SP is pretty short, but mostly because it's surprisingly good.
Multiplayer is pretty standard with few deviations. Biggest new feature must be Wager Matches that let you wager your hard earned cash in a series of Free-For-All modes. Black Ops made another step forward when it comes to customizing your soldier. Now you can make pretty detailed emblems, you can paint the face of your soldier, etc. Another thing that I personally LOVE is that grenade launchers (aka noob tubes) aren't as useful/popular as before. Another thing missing is quickscoping (not a big fan of that either)
Stuff I liked:
Great story (comparing to other FPSs of course), Nice SP levels, MP is diverse with a tone of modes, No noob tubes or quickscoping, CoD points are a nice feature
Stuff i disliked:
Lag, Matchmaking is (again) a disaster, Did I mention lag?
