+ INTERVIEWS with Mick Jones and Kelly Hansen about the album “Can’t Slow Down”
There are bands that loose their soul when they have to substitute their frontman. Some of them turn into deluxe cover bands. Some others instead prove to be able to reinvent their career and to start a new life: AC/DC with Brian Johnson, Black Sabbath with Dio, Iron Maiden with Buce Dickinson, Deep Purple...
When Foreigner had to find a substitute for Lou Gramm, many were wondering how the band could keep their strong legacy to their prestigious past. 60 millions albums sold, and a number of hit singles like a very few others. Kelly Hansen soon showed how he is simply one of the most gifted Rock voices you can find today. His stage presence is impressive and together with Mick Jones he started a new life for the band. The first album with Hansen “Can’t Slow Down” has reached Top 20 chart position in USA and UK and charted in the Top 40 in mostly everywhere else in the World. Foreigner are constantly touring for one year, establishing them all over the globe as the quintessential American Rock band (despite the fact that Jones is proudly English). Together with Mick Jones and Kelly Hansen, the line up of super-talented musicians are completing the definitive version of this extraordinary band: Jeff Pilson (ex Dokken) on bass, Tom Gimbel (ex Aerosmith touring band on guitars and sax) and Brian Tichy (Whitesnake) on drums. Jones has also reached unique success as a producer (Van Halen, Billy Joe)
“Can’t Slow Down” was a huge success all over the world and let Foreigner deliver one of the most spectacular Rock shows all over the United States and Europe. With a renewed energy, March 16th, 2010, was the night of the nights for the band. Foreigner rocked the beautiful, historical Ryman Theatre in Nashville, USA and showed once and for all that the current line-up is possibly the best ever. “Rockin’ At The Ryman” contains the full concert filmed in high definition on Blu-ray and DVD. Songs from the most recent album and classics drove Rock and Roll fans crazy. The audience was overwhelmed with the energy from Foreigner as they sped through their set, giving one of the greatest and most revelled shows of their career.
On the PBS concert series Soundstage the band has welcomed Jason Bonham on drums. Jason is the son of legendary Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham and evenplayed drums on the last ever concert of the band which took place last year. Nowadays he’s rockin’ the stage as drummer of the supergroup Black Country Communion (Glenn Hughes, Joe Bonamassa, Derek Sherinian).
