Moving from its home on Nintendo DS, Grand Theft Auto’s portable classic is given a visual overhaul and fresh PSP features.

The Grand Theft Auto series may have once been a Sony system seller, but in recent years the open world title has branched out to other consoles, most notably jumping to Nintendo DS for Grand Theft Auto - Chinatown Wars. After a long wait, Rockstar’s Liberty City returns to Sony formats with Chinatown Wars on PSP. With its simplified visuals and more extravagant storyline, Chinatown Wars feels more like the GTAs of old, with a skewed 3D perspective that mimics the top down view of the original Grand Theft Auto games. On Sony’s PSP, Chinatown Wars’ visuals have been given an update, adding more texture and detail, but keeping the colourful style already in place.

One of Chinatown Wars most notable features on Nintendo DS was the ability to control certain aspects of the game with the stylus. On PSP these mini-games have been altered to match the handheld’s features without losing the sense of control the original offered.

Grand Theft Auto - Chinatown Wars remains one of the best GTAs available on handhelds, this PSP edition using the hardware’s extra power to give the title a healthy visual update.
