I agree with the original review; one of the finest westerns.
Forget the standard western yarns. This is the tale of four generations of the Prescot family from the 1830s to the 1890s. Debbie Reynolds is the only player to last right through the movie. The makeup geniuses have to age her from teens to seventies and they manage remarkably well. It charts from the early settlers in buckskin to the approach of the twentieth century. A remarkable journey not to be missed.
