A collection of 4 films from French auteur Louis Malle.
'Milou En Mai' - In a large villa in the Southwest of France, the grandmother has just died. Her son, sixty-year-old Milou, who has been living with her and taking care of the property rather negligently, gathers the rest of the family for the funeral. We are in May 1968. The student demonstrations have just started in Paris and the entire country is reeling from the drama of the sixties. In the quiet villa, however, the division of the estate and a generation of new romances appear to be more important considerations than the events unfolding in the capital.
'Lacombe Lucien' - Louis Malle's war-time drama was nominated for the Best Foreign Film Oscar and picked up the Best Film award at the BAFTAs. A young French peasant (Pierre Blaise) sees a chance for social advancement by joining the Gestapo during the French Occupation. However, his position is placed under threat when he starts dating the daughter of a Jewish tailor - a liaison that could have disastrous repercussions for them both.
'Le Souffle Au Coeur' - A controversial exploration of human love and desire. Louis Malle's film treats the subject of incest with delicacy and is a poignant reflection of the agonies and joys of adolescence. Music by Charlie Parker.
Also includes Louis Malle's rarely seen 'Black Moon'.
French dialogue with English subtitles.
