James Nesbitt plays Detective Sergeant Tommy Murphy, a maverick cop with a dark past. After failing a psychiatric assessment, he is given one last chance by his boss and given a dangerous undercover assignment. Murphy is a loner with little to lose and deals with everything on his own terms...

Episodes Comprise:

Jack's Back: The hunt for a serial killer who is stalking London's West End takes on a personal dimension for Murphy when tragedy strikes. The killer is targeting young women who have stayed at one particular hostel for homeless people, but what is their connection with the latest victim, the star of a West End musical about Jack the Ripper?

Bent Moon On The Rise: When a promising young police officer, Parmer, commits suicide, Murphy is sent undercover to find out if he was a victim of racist bullying. Parmer's old squad is lead by the charismatic D.I. Winters. Parmer's old colleagues are shocked by his death but they're also hiding a secret. Could this be the key to understanding why he died?

Ringers: Murphy is recruited to be part of an Interpol operation to infiltrate an international car ringing gang and finds himself paired up with philosophising French agent, Benoit. Posing as an expert car thief, Murphy sets out to impress the brains behind the car scam, Godfrey Raines.

Alice: When seven year Adrian Kelly drowns in a river, his mother, Alice claims he was poisoned by a chemical leak from a near by biotech laboratory. There appears to be no evidence to support her story. Is this the ramblings of a grief stricken mother or is there something sinister going on? Murphy goes undercover as a cleaner in the lab...

Convent: The apparent suicide of a novice nun and the strange disappearance of another, forces Murphy to go undercover in a convent. Despite Murphy's cover story of being a priest sent by the Cardinal to compile a report on the tragedies, Murphy's investigation is hampered by the nuns who are suspicious and secretive.

The Group: Three murderers are themselves murdered. All three had been named in a campaign run by support group for relatives of murder victims. Is it a coincidence or is this a killer of killers taking revenge? Murphy joins the group but the experience stirs up powerful emotions and he finds himself faced with the opportunity to exact a very personal revenge.
