It wasn't so long ago that reality tv did not exist, but with the launch of THE REAL WORLD on MTV in 1992, television and the nature of celebrity were forever changed. Pedro Zamora came to public attention during the second season of The Real World. After discovering he was HIV-positive at the age of seventeen, Zamora made the life-altering decision to become an activist and educator. He decided to audition for The Real World because it seemed like the perfect opportunity to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS. This intimate biopic dramatizes the life of Pedro Zamora before and after his rise to fame. It examines his familial roots in Cuba and later, his committed relationship with another activist. Zamora understood that he could reach more people in one episode of a television programme than he could in a year of speaking engagements. PEDRO is written by ACADEMY AWARD winner Dustin Lance Black (MILK) and offers an intriguing look at this accidental celebrity and his brief but world-changing turn in the spotlight.
Introduction from former US President, Bill Clinton.

But that's all. As entertainment I'd rate it two stars but I've given it three because if it's something your interested in the subject is sensitively covered.
