The persona series makes its way from Japan once more in this fourth addition to the role playing series, with an entirely fresh cast and setting.

Few Japanese role playing titles become successful on Western shores, but the Persona series is one of the few exceptions, still giving PlayStation 2 owners a dose of fantasy role playing. Persona 4 takes the form of a murder mystery, with a new selection of characters, an updated plot and more in-depth gameplay features. As a single murder in the town of Inaba develops into a series of mysterious crimes, players will have to work with their Persona friends to solve the case.

Outside of this murder mystery, players will still need to live the normal life of a teenager, attending school and working part-time jobs. Once in the thick of battle, Persona’s typical party-based combat is in place. Players can now directly control their friends in battle, and players with strong social links with each character will find themselves more powerful during fights.

Though the setting has changed once again, Persona 4 keeps the in-depth party system and lengthy storytelling that have made the series so popular the world over.
