Starting with the Official History of Rugby League, we trace the story of the game from its inception at The George Hotel, Huddersfield in 1895 right up to and including the 2008 World Cup Final. Presented by Robbie Paul and narrated by Jon Champion, two discs cover the exploits of such wonderful players as Lewis, Sullivan, Boston, Fox and Murphy. In more recent times the likes of Hanley, Offiah, Edwards, Schofield and Sculthorpe have graced this most exciting sport.
Brian Carney and Mike Stephenson then introduce more than 150 scintillating tries from the first decade of the Super League. Starting in the inaugural 1996 season we include the moments that have lit up rugby league, from Arnaud Cervello’s spectacular try for Paris St Germain against Sheffield in Super League’s firstever game to stunning long-range tries from Anthony Sullivan, Martin Offiah, Jason Robinson and Lesley Vainikolo.
We finish with a fascinating documentary looking back at the first decade of the Super League, ten years that revolutionised the sport. Starting with the first game in Paris in 1996 and including exclusive interviews with players and coaches, there is plenty of nostalgia here.
So sit back and enjoy a fast-moving review of some superb action and great memories.
