Created by SIX FEET UNDER's Alan Ball, TRUE BLOOD is based on the Southern Vampire Mysteries novels by Charlaine Harris, a series set in a world where vampires have just begun to 'come out' after a synthetic blood substitute called True Blood is introduced. Oscar winner Anna Paquin stars as Sookie Stackhouse, a telepathic waitress living in Bon Temps, Louisiana, who falls hard for Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), a Civil War veteran and vampire. But their romantic romps aren't the only draw for the series: the existence between humans and vampires is an uneasy one, and people are dying. Series three sees the introduction of werewolves into the show's mythology. Russell Edgington, the Vampire King of Mississippi, and Franklin Mott, his private investigator also join the original cast. Jason has a new love interest and Sookie's heritage is revealed as the series unravels. Includes all 12 episodes from the third series.

Sexy, witty and unabashedly peculiar - USA Today
True Blood has received some mixed reviews since its initial launch, but, by the end of the third series, this TV series was hitting the mark and pulling in spectacular numbers of viewers. Series 3 established True Blood as HBO's most watched series since the Sopranos.
Dark, sexy and something to sink your teeth into!
The story thickens! True Blood has got darker and sexier with each season, In season 3 you finally get some answers to what Sookie actually is and what Bill's and Eric's intentions really are. Each character gets more depth and you finally start to see everyone's true colours. True Blood is defiantly something not to be missed for Vampire fans.
I know I should like this but.....
I simply love vampire series like Buffy and Angel but this doesn't quite click. The main reason I think for me is the really bad Sourthern US accents. They just sound false and sometimes I can't understand what they are saying at all. Worth a watch in my opinion and I know some of my friends love it so maybe its just my inability to get to grips with the 'youall' voices.
