Game, Set, Match, TopSpin 4
I have been a massive fan of Virtua Tennis since its debut on the SEGA Dreamcast back in 1999 & in the arcades before that. I have owned pretty much every release on various systems over the last 12 years & have to say this has been the most disappointing to date. The game has failed to keep up with the competition & in many ways has gone backwards. The once excellent & deep career mode has been replaced with an incredibly short four season mode that once you have visited each of the four areas of the map ends & you have to start all over again. It is played out with a bizarre board game feel where you must buy tokens to move from plot to plot. The 'Move' features are clearly an afterthought & cannot be used for 90% of the game. With the recent arrival of the ultra realistic 'Topspin 4' I think Virtua Tennis needs a major rethink or it may be time for it to hang up its racquet for good.
