BaseTrade F.A.Q.

BaseTrade offers an alternative way to buy products on base.com. Approved third-parties are allowed to sell items under the BaseTrade system on base.com. Those items can be new or used, presenting you with a wider range of products and more price options.

How does BaseTrade Work?

If an item is being offered for sale on BaseTrade, you will see the "alternative buying options" on the items product details page. If you buy the item from a BaseTrade seller, we will securely handle your payment and then pass on the details of the order to the BaseTrade seller so that they can ship the item to you. When the item has been shipped, we pass on the money for the item to the BaseTrade seller.

How are the prices set for each item?

The BaseTrade sellers set their own prices for each item that they sell. This means that products will be available for different prices and you can choose to buy from the cheapest seller, or from the seller with the best feedback, or a combination of both.

Items can be used as well as new and the BaseTrade sellers have the option to sell their used items at a different price to their new items. Items are clearly listed as New or Used so that you know what type of item you are buying.

Who can become a BaseTrade Seller?

We are only inviting select traders to become BaseTrade sellers. If you would like to be considered to sell on BaseTrade, please go to our BaseTrade Application Page and let us know about you.

Do I need to do anything different to buy a BaseTrade item?

No. You buy an item from a BaseTrade seller in the same way that you would normally buy an item from us. Just select the Buy Now option beside the BaseTrade Seller you want to buy from and the item will be added to your basket like a normal base.com order. You can buy from different BaseTrade Sellers in one order and you can have items from base.com mixed in with your BaseTrade purchases.

Are there any additional charges to buy from a BaseTrade Seller?

No. There are no additional charges to buy an item from a BaseTrade seller. The price that an item is listed for includes UK delivery costs. If you are shipping the item ooutside the UK there will be an additional shipping charge.

How long does delivery take?

All BaseTrade Sellers must dispatch an item to you within 2 working days of receiving the order. As there are many BaseTrade sellers, they ship items from different locations, which means that delivery times can vary.

What happens if I need to return an item?

If you need to return an item purchased from a BaseTrade Seller, you should contact the BaseTrade seller direct. You can easily contact the BaseTrade seller using the option to contact the seller beside your order details on your base.com account screens.

What if there is a problem with my order?

If there is a problem with your order you can easily contact the seller to let them know. They will tell you exactly what has happened with your order and remedy it with you.

If, for some reason, you cannot get a satisfactory resolution to a problem from the BaseTrade seller, you can escalate the problem to us and we will investigate.

How does the feedback system work?

To help rate all of our BaseTrade sellers and to encourage the best possible service, we have a feedbck system that allows everyone who buys an item from a BaseTrade Seller to rate the transaction. This means that you can see how well a BaseTrade seller has performed based on real user feedback before you make your purchase.

What happens with the cash when I sell something?

When you make a sale on BaseTrade, the cash from the sale, minus any fees, is deposited into your base.com cash account. You can transfer the money from your base.com cash account to your bank account, or, you can use the cash to buy items from base.com.

Where can I see a summary of my sales and finance transactions?

You can see a statement of your BaseTrade transactions by viewing the finance section of your base.com account. Logon to your base.com account here and select the Transactions option from the Finance section.
