BaseTrade Seller F.A.Q.s
BaseTrade offers an alternative way to buy products on base.com. Approved third-parties are allowed to sell items under the BaseTrade system. Items can be new or used presenting you with a wider range of products and more price options.
- How does BaseTrade Work?
- BaseTrade lets you sell your items to base.com customers on the base.com website.
- Who can become a BaseTrade Seller?
- We are only inviting select traders to become BaseTrade sellers. If you would like to be considered to sell on BaseTrade, please go to our BaseTrade Application Page and let us know about you.
- How do I list items?
- We give you access to a BaseTrade Seller Account that lets you list the items you want to sell. You can sell any items that are already listed on base.com, and you can add and sell new items that are not currently listed.
- You can list your items manually, upload a file with all your items in it, or we can give you access to a developer's API so you can automate your listing process.
- Once you have listed an item, it is available for sale on the base.com site within 45 minutes and all of our customers will be able to see it and buy it from you.
- How do I get my order information?
- When a customer buys something from you, we email you with the order details. You can also access the order details from your BaseTrade Seller Account. Here you can see the orders manually or you can downlaod a file containing all order details.
- We also have a developer's API that will allow you to automate the collection and verification of orders.
- What are the fees for using BaseTrade?
- Our fees are detailed on our BaseTrade Fees page
- How long do I have to ship an item when I receive an order?
- You have 2 working days after the receipt of an order to dispatch the item to the customer. All customers are informed of this and an expected delivery date is set. You must be able to meet this timeframe for all products you list.
- What destinations can I ship items to?
- All items must be available for shipping to the UK. All sellers have the option to choose to ship items to European destinations if they want to. If you would like to ship items to other destiantions, contact us on help@base.com to have additional shipping destinations added to your account.
- How is an item paid for and how do I get paid?
- We will handle all of the payment card processing for you. We take payment from the customer as soon as they order the item. When you have confirmed back to us that you have dispatched the item, we will allocate the funds to your BaseTrade Seller Account minus any fees that are applicable. You will be able to see a summary of all payments on your BaseTrade Seller Account.
- You can use the funds in your BaseTrade seller account to purchase items from base.com without having to withdraw them.
- You can request that funds are transferred from your BaseTrade seller account to your bank account when you reach the minimum withdrawal amount of £40.00. A bank transfer charge will be deducted from the amount transferred. This bank charge can be avoided by using your funds to buy items on the base.com site. Please see our Seller Fees page for details of the transfer charge.
- How do I get paid?
- Money for your sales is transferred to your BaseTrade Seller Account 14 days after the sale is completed, enabling you to maintain a Reserve in your seller account against returns, customer claims and so on. You can then request to withdraw the money as long as the money in your account has reached the minimum withdrawal amount. Money withdrawn will be transferred to your bank account. Bank transfers can take up to 6-10 working days to appear in your bank account.
- What happens if there is a problem with an order?
- The customer is provided an option to contact the seller directly if they have any issues with their orders. Your BaseTrade Seller account allows you to correspond with the user and to issue refunds to the customer should you need to.
