Two-part BBC drama based on Martin Amis's darkly comic fable of greed, excess and flawed ambition in 1980s London. John Self (Nick Frost) is a successful, self-indulgent, British advertising director who is invited to New York by film producer Fielding Goodney (Vincent Kartheiser) to begin work on his first film. As he battles the egos and emotional demands that dominate the landscape of this amoral new world, he begins to harbour suspicions that his girlfriend Selina (Emma Pierson) may be cheating on him, and starts receiving calls from a mysterious blackmailer.
