New York, 1928: Demonic beings threaten the peace of the city. To combat this threat a special mechanized combat division known as the New York Assault Force is assembled. Our hero, Shinjiro Taiga, has been sent from Japan to act as its advisor. What he didn't realize was that he'd also be leading a carousing band of theatrical performers by night. Now he must find a way to balance his life as military leader and musical director, all while adjusting to the hustle and bustle of a fast-paced metropolis.

Learning from the art of comics Sakura Wars tells its story through simple yet beautiful 2D artwork. The emotional and dramatic moments of each and every characters are expressed through anime inspired visuals and voice acting. The artwork is simple, but its powerful messages can certainly be seen.

Storytelling is performed through a simple form; however, once you enter battle the focus shifts towards the details. All combat is fought in a full 3D environment, a gridless, free roaming field where players can move whereever their mech units are capable of going. In this 3D environment objects and background can be damaged and destroyed due to battle related attacks.
