When Daniel wakes up from another drunken night with blood stained hands, he realises he might be responsible for a murder, but through a spiralling series of events, he finds his star unwittingly on the rise. A dramatic act of redemption buys him public adoration, so much so that he has become a candidate in the race for Mayor, persuaded by his lawyer sister Lucy and council official Jerry who become caught up in the cause. Should he face up to his actions and suffer the consequences or seize this chance, knowing he is sitting on on a ticking time bomb of the truth? Dark flashbacks to the fateful night continue and as the story unfolds Daniel realises how awful, and dangerous, the situation is. He also might not be the only one who knows about the horrific murder and is trying to cover it up – sinister political cogs are turning behind the scenes. Daniel is painfully aware that it could all come crashing down at any moment. Detective Dalien Bevan is hot on his trail and Daniel’s deepening relationships with Bevan’s ex-wife Sylvie, hospital nurse Donna, and the murdered man’s daughter Ruth, means he finds himself tangled up in a darker and more sinister web than he could ever have imagined. Could this horrific situation be the very thing to wake him up to life and finally learn to love himself and his family?
