Men of War

Originally released in 2009, Men of War, the first game of the series, should soon be called “one of the best strategy games in a long while” (Strategy Informer) and a “virtuoso display of strategy game creation” (PC Gamer UK). Men of War takes place during the heights of World War II, while intense battles span over Europe and North Africa. Three different campaigns let players control Allied, Soviet or German forces. Each campaign has its own scenario and structured timeline, which brings different elements of the war to life. Men of War features hundreds of accurately modelled historical tanks and vehicles. More than 1,000 sound effects of weapons and combat gear have been recorded under real operating conditions.

The single-player campaign features a customisable user-interface, so players can have the command controls laid out in their own style. A comprehensive multiplayer mode additionally offers Capture the Flag, High-Value Cargo and other gameplay varieties.

Men of War: Assault Squad – Game of the Year edition

Men of War: Assault Squad, released in April 2011, features a completely new cooperative skirmish game mode with access to five different nations: Russia, the USA, Germany, the Commonwealth and, for the first time in the Men of War series, Japan. Players fight in WWII battles all over the planet, including European and Pacific scenarios, taking advantage of the “direct control” feature, which is one of the aspects making the Men of War series so realistic and special. PC generals can also get behind the controls of a tank to smash through obstacles, crush soldiers under its tracks and fire amor-piercing shells at enemy replacements, or take control of individual soldiers as they fight.

The Men of War: Assauld Squad Game of the Year edition includes all missions and features of the original game as well as additionally all three MP Supply Packs (called Alpha, Bravo and Charlie) and the Skirmish Packs 1 and 2. The pack totals 25 skirmishes, over 50 multiplayer maps, 5 playable nations, over 100 infantry weapons and over 200 vehicles.

Men of War: Vietnam – Special Edition

In Men of War: Vietnam, released in September 2011, two intense story-driven campaigns let players feel the Vietnam war experience, including the explosive mix of the jungle, Hueys and rock-n-roll in early 1968.

The US campaign focuses on a team of elite spec ops soldiers, each one of them with their own unique personality. The unit includes Sergeant John Merrill, machine gunner Jim Walsh, sniper Sonny Armstrong, grenade launcher operator Carl Dillan and combat engineer Bill Kirby. In some missions they can count only on themselves, while in the others they act together with regular US and South-Vietnamese troops.

The North Vietnam campaign tells the story of two Soviet military consultants and soldiers of the North Vietnam Army who are the only survivors of an ambush by US troops. The task of getting back to the North Vietnam territory is a difficult one: they have no means of radio communication, no wheeled vehicles, and it’s too far to make it there by foot. On their way these warriors will be involved in a chain of bloody engagements and find themselves in the dead center of the Tet offensive. Their missions range from special operations to full scale battles.

The Men of War: Vietnam Special Edition includes 3 multiplayer maps and 5 singleplayer scenarios also playable in coop mode for up to 4 players.

Men of War: Condemned Heroes

Men of War: Condemned Heroes, released in April 2012, is the latest instalment of the RTS series. The game tells the story of one of the infamous Soviet penal battalions during World War II. These battalions are famous for being formed under Stalin’s “No step back!” order #227. They consisted of court-martialed officers that were given a chance to redeem their crimes, or incompetence, in blood by serving as the lowest enlisted rank in a battalion that was assigned the most dangerous tasks. These battalions’ images are surrounded by many myths, and this game tells the truth about these regiments based on real evidence from their former members.

Players take command of one of these notorious companies and will lead it to victory against all odds through most of the war on the Eastern front. They fight from desperate battles in 1942 in the area of Volyn in the Ukraine, to the massive operation “Bagration” in the Brest area, Magnush bridgehead and Warsaw area in Poland and finally to attacks on the German Altdamm and Stettin near the end of the war.

The game offers 4 campaigns, consisting of 15 missions, telling the story of the penal company from crucial 1942 to victorious 1945.
