Customer Reviews

I've just bought the SONY RM-VLZ620T Remote Commander and yes I'm about to buy another.

Reason? I already own the Expensive - Classic Philips Pronto Pro with extensive 'macro' programming ('sequential device code transmission' for the un-initiated) but, this VLZ620 although simple in nature, is so good I never want to be without one again. It allows me to have a macro to switch-on any IR controlled equipment, switch the Amp to the correct I/P and allow a pause before switching TV to DTV, Cable, Media Centre or PS/X-Box.

When a macro has been programmed under a Device Select Button the controller becomes the Remote for that particular device after the button is pressed for approximately 2seconds and sent it's macro. Please Note - Any device button can be selected at any time before or after this operation. Amplifier 'punch-through' can be programmed for any device using the 955 code, allowing AV Amp volume and mute to be used on any selected remote (learnt or data base). Clever!

I have all my 'OFF' macros on 'system' keys. It works like a dream!

But not as the manual describes.

All macros have been learnt on the VCR NUMBER PAD etc. to allow all 16 steps to be used rather than selecting device then code. - Handy for long macros and start-up delays. A redundant long code is handy for delay codes.

I've also found you can if you're very patient get two codes under one key. i.e "play"+"dim lights" and "pause"+"raise lights" etc., very handy on projectors. Good luck with that one though it does need timing and patience.

If you do have something like the pronto-pro to teach discrete codes, one OFF macro under a SYSTEM CONTROL button is very useful.

Don't be fooled by adverse comments - this truly is - THE REAL McCOY!

The remote is very tactile, powerfull, nearly all buttons are learnable, 2x AA cells last 1year and of course - the PRICE!
